In welke zin

A nomadic publishing platform with the aim to publish poetry, experimental prose and visual art books that don’t find a place in traditional publishing.
“ We want to introduce literature, readings and publishing, normally seen as more lonely introverted pursuits, as an equally exciting part of a lively festival „
In welke zin is a nomadic publishing platform with roots in Ostend, Bruges and Ghent. To ‘birth’ our publications and create a community, we organize events and fun launch parties so people (and publications) can connect. Our ultimate dream is to own a boat and become a floating publishing space, so we can take our words, ideas and readers out to sea.
What’s your ambition as a curator of KONVOOI 2022?
“We want to create space for surprising and intimate encounters with poetry and poets at the festival. We love to invite artists to share their work in the challenging industrial setting of the port. We want to introduce literature, readings and publishing, normally seen as more lonely introverted pursuits, as an equally exciting part of a lively festival, something we can come together for and connect over.”
How does the port of Bruges inspires your role in KONVOOI?
“We’re really interested in the contrast between the intimate nature of the poetry we want to bring and the scale of the industrial port. How do spoken words resonate in a place like this? What happens when we speak and read here? Can our words and ideas find a mooring here? What will the pigeons think of our poetic activities?”
What artistic project will you present at the festival?
“As ‘In welke zin’ we have commandeered a vessel that had stranded in the port. With this boat we will sail the terrain of Konvooi festival, mooring at different places in the port and at the platforms created by the other curators. At our boat you will find a place to chill and listen to poetry readings, slam performances and talks. Or you could join a reading group or participate in our open mic! We want you to come and listen, talk, connect and climb aboard our publishing vessel.”
